logo_gogrid.gifGoGrid provides dedicated computer resources on a grid architecture that you can use on demand. GoGrid combines many of the familiar features of dedicated server or managed hosting platforms with the benefits of flexibility and scalability offered by cloud server hosting.  GoGrid supports a variety of Linux and Windows operating systems with preinstalled software, such as IIS, Apache, PHP, Microsoft SQL Server, and MySQL. Deploy a single server or build a complete load balanced server network.

NOTE:  The GoGrid options will only be visible in the Dashboard for select customers.  To unlock the GoGrid features, please contact sales@rightscale.com.

GoGrid Variables

The following GoGrid variables will appear under Clouds -> GoGrid -> Instances.

  • Gogrid ID - A unique identifier that GoGrid will assign your instance.  The ID will become visible once the instance reaches the booting state.  (ex: 13419)
  • Image - The GoGrid machine image.  (ex: "centos44_32_apache22php5")
  • IP (Subnet) - GoGrid provides you with a public and private subnet that each contain a group of IP addresses that are specifically reserved for use within your account.  Some IPs are reserved for load balancing and network management, which are marked as 'reserved' in the IP list.  When you launch a GoGrid instance, you will have the option of selecting one of the available IP addresses or having an IP address be automatically assigned at launch time.   When an instance is launched, it will be assigned an IP address from either the public or private subnet.  (ex: 216.121.60.18) Obviously, if you are launching a public-facing server, you must use an IP address from the public subnet.  Click a server's IP address link to preview the server in a browser window.
  • State - The current state of the instance.  (ex: booting, stopped, operational)
  • Runtime - Launch and terminate instances.  You can also delete a instance from the list. If the instance is running, the current runtime length will also be displayed.
