Create a FlexiScale ServerTemplate

Although you can launch a FlexiScale server directly from an Image (See Launch a FlexiScale Server), you might want to create a template to be used on a regular basis.

NOTE:  FlexiScale will only be visible in the Dashboard for select customers.  To unlock the FlexiScale features, please contact sales@rightscale.com.

Go to Design -> ServerTemplates and click the New FlexiScale button.

  • Nickname - Provide a nickname for your ServerTemplate.
  • Description - (Optional) Provide a short description of the ServerTemplate.
  • Image - Select the machine image that will be used to build each server.
    • Centos 5
    • Centos 4
    • Windows Server 2003 Standard
    • Debian 4.0 (Etch)
    • Centos 5 64-bit
    • Ubuntu 6.06 LTS
    • Windows Server 2003 Standard 64-bit
    • Debian 4.0 64-bit (Etch)
    • Ubuntu 8.04 LTS
    • CFT Elastic Server JAMwiki (Debian)
    • CFT Elastic Server Shindig (Debian)
    • CFT Elastic Server Joomla (Debian)
  • Package - Select a package.
  • Processors - Select the number of processors for each server.  (1-4)
  • Memory - Select the amount of memory (GB) that will be allocated for each server. (0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0, 5.0, 6.0, 7.0, 8.0 GB)
  • Disk capacity - Select the amount of disk space (GB) for each server. By default, each server will have 20GB, but you can also attach additional disk space as necessary (20, 20 +50, 20 +100, 20 +250 GB)
  • Virtual LAN - Select the appropriate VLAN for the servers.

Click Save.

You will now see basic information about your new FlexiScale ServerTemplate.
